Our Mission Statement
DMIA is a community-based organization led by domestic and care workers and mothers who united to advocate for their rights, support one another, and work toward a better future for all families. We champion policies that promote equity and inclusion at the local, state, and federal levels, including fair and comprehensive reforms that benefit all residents.
Our Founder: Lenka Mendoza
Respected advocate for social justice and policy reform. Led an 18-day fast in front of the White House in 2014 to call for change. Organized Virginia’s participation in the “100 Women/100 Miles” march in 2015 during Pope Francis’s visit to highlight the need for dignity and human rights for all communities.
