2013

The beginning

  • Foundation: Dreamers Mothers in Action, originally known as Dreamers Moms USA, was founded with the vision of uniting and informing the Latino community.

  • Key Figure: The organization was established by Lenka Mendoza, who played a pivotal role in its early development and direction.

Advocacy and Achievements

  • DAPA Approval: Through dedicated efforts, Dreamers Mothers in Action contributed to the approval of Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA), providing temporary relief from deportation and work authorization to eligible immigrant parents.

  • In-State Tuition Victory: The organization also successfully campaigned for in-state tuition for all immigrants residing in Virginia, making higher education more accessible to immigrant families.

2020

Our Landmark Achievement

  • Driver Privilege Cards: In 2020, Dreamers Mothers in Action celebrated a significant milestone with the approval of driver privilege cards in Virginia. This achievement allows all immigrants, including undocumented individuals, to receive a privilege card enabling them to legally drive within the commonwealth.
